The Conflict Research Consortium for Africa (CRCA) is a multi-disciplinary research and consulting platform for interdisciplinary research and consultation.
In order to influence and inform policy for the peace and development of the continent, it brings together a global community of academics, scientific and technical institutions, practitioners, and citizens committed to producing indigenous solutions to Africa’s conflict challenges.
The Consortium was established to provide a collaborative platform where African perspectives in conflict research can be heard and to promote "African Solutions to African Problems," through theoretical and empirical research and scholarship based on expert assessment of Africa’s realities on the ground.
It aims to encourage a supportive research culture that is characterized by research integrity, ethics, and global best practices while encouraging equality, diversity, and inclusion. We hope that this collaboration will influence the career paths of young researchers across Africa.
Our goal is to harness the conflict research strength of the continent, bridge the ‘triple-helix’ through relevant research collaboration, encourage local research dissemination in Africa for Africa, and strengthen local conflict journals.
Our broad objective is to promote multi-disciplinary conflict research in Africa through collaboration. Our specific objectives are:
Our general research interests cover all aspects of conflict in Africa. However, our current research is structured around four major clusters:

GLOBAL
The Global Research Network (GRN) was launched in October 2019 to support young and independent academics around the world. Recognising that the higher education sector is now in an era vastly different to that of the last century, we have created a space that is generous, collegial, and truly diverse. The network is member-based and primarily online. Shortly after launch there were a hundred members in the network, and we are now open to applications from new scholars. We hope to have academics from every single country represented here in 2021.
Our Purpose is to become the world's most diverse community of like-minded people that listens to, supports and connects researchers across boundaries and borders to create real-world change.
The only organisation of its kind, GRN is an active meeting place for early career faculty, researchers, independent scholars and doctoral students interested in new thinking about these issues. Members come from a truly diverse range of backgrounds and higher education institutions. Our common goal is that of connection and collaboration, which is needed more than ever as the greatest problems of the day transcend narrow fields of work.
